Concepts
This chapter defines the vocabulary that the rest of the documentation uses. Each page covers one term: what the thing is, why it exists, and what MooseFS does with it. Command syntax, option names, and default values are not here. They belong to Reference.
The terms fall into five groups. Each group has a page of its own that describes how its terms relate. The parts of a cluster describes what an instance is made of and what each part holds. Redundancy describes the two forms in which file data is kept, and the figure that compares them. Placement and policy describes what decides which servers a file's data is stored on. File system behavior describes what a mount gives an application beyond the bytes of a file. Staying available describes what keeps a cluster serving while parts of it fail. Editions: Community and PRO describes which of all this each edition includes.
Every other chapter links here instead of defining a term again. How It Works covers how the mechanism that a term names behaves. Operations covers the task that uses the term.
