Reference
Exact options, values, and names. Look here when you know what you are configuring and need the name of the option, its default value, and the edition it belongs to.
Configuration files have their own pages. mfsmaster.cfg,
mfschunkserver.cfg, mfsmetalogger.cfg, and mfsgui.cfg list every option
with the value the daemon uses when the option is not set. mfsexports.cfg
and mfshdd.cfg list every keyword their entries accept. mfsipmap.cfg
and mfstopology.cfg list the forms that a line in each file can take.
Configuration files names every
configuration file that MooseFS reads and points to the reference of each file.
Command line tools names every command MooseFS
installs a manual page for, together with the options of mfsmount and the
file that presets those options. The manual pages themselves are in
Man pages, reproduced as the product ships them. Read them
for what man prints on your machine. Read these pages for what each option
does.
Network ports lists the ports the daemons listen on, who connects to each port, and the option that changes the port.
Limits gives the figures that MooseFS does not go past (the length of a name, the size of a file, how many objects, classes, patterns, and locations one instance holds). For the figures that MooseFS leaves open, Limits names what sets the ceiling instead.
Metrics names every value the Prometheus exporter exposes, together with its unit. Alerts names every message the GUI raises about the state of the cluster, with what the message means and what to do about it.
Special files in a mount names the files that a mount handles itself, together with what a read of each file returns and who may open it. Files in a data directory names the files the daemons keep on disk. These files are the metadata images and changelogs of a Master Server, the copies a Metalogger and a Follower hold, the identity and charts of a Chunkserver, and what a Chunkserver writes on every storage disk.
Every value on these pages is the value that the MooseFS packages ship with. If you
compile MooseFS yourself, the build decides some of these values:
Values set at build time lists them, together with
the configure option that changes each one.
Concepts and How It Works cover what an option is for and how its mechanism behaves. Operations covers the procedure that uses the option.
