Components
This section has one page for each module that a MooseFS instance is built from: the structure of the process, the connections it serves, and what it keeps on disk.
The Master Server manages the instance and answers every metadata request from memory. The Chunkserver is the storage module: it keeps chunk files on local file systems and serves them to clients. The Metalogger keeps a copy of the metadata on a machine of its own. Clients are the module, in its several forms, through which applications reach the file system. The GUI, the CLI and the Prometheus exporter observe the cluster from outside every path through it.
Concepts explains what each role is for. The read path, the write path, and the metadata paths describe the traffic between the modules.
