Network and protocol

This section describes what the modules of an instance send over the network, and what the network under them has to provide.

The MooseFS protocol and its ports describes the frame that every message is sent in, who opens which connection, and which address the Master Server gives out. Authentication between modules describes the connection pairs and what the presenting side of each pair has to show. Physical media and InfiniBand explains what all of this means for the hardware that a cluster runs on. Export rule evaluation order covers the decision that the Master Server makes about a client at registration: which entry of mfsexports.cfg wins and what that entry decides for the whole session.

The port numbers themselves, and the options that change them, are listed in network ports.
